If you haven't seen the upswing of this Instagram trend, you'll start to see it now...
Hipsters (of all ages) sure love their geode slices! This painting is inspired by all you cool hipsters out there - while I can't claim to be one of them (minimalism and the color white are not my natural go-tos), I hope this project does you justice.
Time to complete: 30 min - 1.5 hours (depending on skill level and pace)
Project level: Beginner - Intermediate
Before you hit play, you'll need:
A sheet of canvas paper
Scissors
Acrylic brushes (I prefer numbers 8, 5, and 3, but feel free to use whatever you have)
Cup of water
Paper towel
Acrylic paints
The paint palette
This project looks best when you focus on 1 main color and it's complements. I also add white, black, and a sparkly paint* (eg, gold, silver, bronze). For example, in the video, I used:
red
pink
white
gold*
Another example could be:
blue
light blue
white
black
silver*
*Sub a shimmery paint for liquid glue and fine glitter.
